Some Random Thoughts On the Bin Laden Mission

A Tale of Two Deciders:
a)      George W. Bush when handed the intelligence brief “Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States” on August 6, 2001 DECIDED not to do anything.
b)      President Barack Obama when handed an intelligence brief suggesting Bin Laden’s whereabouts may be known, ordered further surveillance and DECDIED to approve the mission to take the terrorist dead or alive.
Depending on which neocon (short for either neoconservative  or neconartist) you listen to, either Al Qaeda is still a dangerous opponent (Cheney) or through Bush’s war in Iraq, we have reduced them to a negligible threat (Hewitt).  Huh?  How can it be both?
It appears 95% of conservatives have fallen into one of the following camps (I reckon 5% actually have a conscience and don’t apply here):
a)      They deny Obama’s role in the pursuit and death of Bin Laden.
b)      Insist it was George W. Bush’s invasion of Iraq that enabled the demise of Bin Laden.
c)      All of the above
Bad day for Pakistan; after taking billions of US dollars and claiming to be on the hunt for Bin laden, it turns out he is living a few miles from the Pakistani ‘West Point’.  So you are either duplicitous or incompetent.
I guess we now know one of the answers to: Why are we in Afghanistan?  We are there to launch military incursions into Pakistan because we don’t trust the Pakistanis.
I give a great deal of credit to President Obama for approving this mission knowing:
a)      It could cause permanent damage to the Pakistani relationship.
b)      The SEALS over a missile or bomb attack would endanger US serviceman, but it was the only way to be sure, avoid innocent lives being lost, and getting proof of death.
Is there any doubt where Hamas, the Palestinian terrorist organization, allegiance lies?  Ismail Haniya, the Hamas governmental leader, said “…continuation of the United States policy of destruction” while fellow Hamas lawmaker Ismail al-Ashqar described it as “state terrorism that America carries out against Muslims.”
Nutjob Pamela Geller is claiming a military coup took place in the US this weekend because President Obama didn’t want to approve the mission to go after Bin Laden.  A coup?  Brilliant. She was last seen on FAUX News going on that the President’s birth certificate was ‘photoshopped’.  Keep giving the crazies air time Rupert and Roger.  Twin douches.
Then there is Pittsburgh Steeler running back Rashard Mendenhall who tweeted these ditties:
a)      On Bin Laden’s demise: "What kind of person celebrates death? It's amazing how people can HATE a man they have never even heard speak. We've only heard one side..."
b)     On 9/11: "We'll never know what really happened. I just have a hard time believing a plane could take a skyscraper down demolition style."
c)      "For those of you who said you want to see Bin Laden burn ... I ask how would God feel about your heart?"
I’ve got a feeling the blue collar Steeler crowd won’t find this appropriate, amusing, or appreciated.
