Odds and ends, and other scraps

-         Michael Steele says he is going to run for RNC Chairman again.   Trips to Guam, lavish Hawaiian vacations, lesbian bondage clubs in LA….I’d go with Pedro. -         T Boone Pickens has dropped wind as part of his Pickens plan.   He’s now pushing Congress to pass legislation that would offer incentives to convert 18-wheelers and fleet vehicles to run on compressed natural gas not diesel. BTW Pickens owns 45 percent of Clean Energy Fuels, a Seal Beach, Calif., company that builds natural gas filling stations for buses and fleet vehicles. -         Cold snap in Florida has citrus growers and the commodity markets nervous about crop damage.   I wonder if Clarence Beeks is carrying the top secret crop report on a train with Naga Eboko, Lionel Joseph, and Inga.   Footnote: The 'Eddie Murphy Rule' regarding insider trading in commodities can be found in the ne...

Because it's all so freaking hilarious

There has been a lot of discussion from both sides of the political spectrum as to what the new tax plan will cost and whether it is stimulus.   First off the total bill, as it stands now, would cost $860Billion, roughly the same as the 2009 Stimulus Package (approximately 30% was in the form of tax cuts).   I have heard leftwing commentators call it the $900Billion tax break for the rich…wrong!   Conversely, I have heard the right wing commentators call the tax cuts the best way to create new jobs…wrong!   Here’s what we know: 1.       Two year extension of Bush Tax cuts for those <$250k: $463 Billion 2.       Two year extension of Bush Tax cuts for those >$250k: $82Billion 3.       Unemployment Benefits: $56 Billion 4.       Social Security Tax Break: $112 Billion 5.       Individual tax Credits: $8 Billion 6.     ...

All that glitters is not gold, the Golden Globe nominations are out and WTF?

Did Glen Beck and Goldline make these nominations? -         The Tourist garnered nominations for best movie, best actor for Johnny Depp, and best actress Angelina Jolie in a comedy or musical.   Did they actually see the movie?   Plot like a brick of swiss cheese, no chemistry, and compelling story on par with the Banana Splits.   Comedy or musical?   Well there was no singing and the only people laughing are the actors who got their money upfront.   Seriously, if you going to nominate this steaming pile of drek, you have to include Grown Ups and The Bounty Hunter. -         In fact the whole category is a disaster as they included Alice in Wonderland, Red, and Burlesque.   Alice was visually stimulating and that’s about it, Red was a nice romp for the older crowd, and Burlesque may have been the only musical made this year.   And yet Johnny Depp got nominated for that Alice also. ...

Six very loose degress with no bacon on the side

-         A federal judge in Virginia ruled that the new Healthcare law’s provision mandating all citizens get health insurance as unconstitutional.   The Republican judge did not go as far as to strike down the law in its entirety or block it from being implemented while his ruling is appealed by the administration.   Fact is the White House will appeal to the Democratic loaded appellate court, and ultimately it will end up in the Supreme Court to determine its constitutionality.   If this element of the law is ruled out, what does that mean to the health reform law itself?   Which brings us to… -         The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, which passed Congress with bipartisan support was signed into law by President Obama.   The act authorizes funds for federal school meal and children's nutrition programs, while increasing access to healthy food for low-income children. It gives the Departm...
